New Waste Management Guide Released

SESG Launches Waste Management Guide to Strengthen Resource Recovery and Accountability

As part of SESG’s ongoing commitment to embed sustainability across every aspect of its operations, we are proud to announce the release of our Waste Management Guide, a practical resource designed to help our team reduce waste, recover resources, and align daily actions with our environmental objectives.

The guide outlines SESG’s approach to managing its most common waste streams, including Co-mingled Recycling, Soft Plastics, Landfill, Compost, and Batteries, while providing clear instructions on what belongs in each bin and how to maximise recovery. It also includes guidance on reducing waste at the source and identifying opportunities for re-use and recycling.

Available to all staff through SharePoint, the guide ensures that information about waste management and resource recovery is accessible, consistent, and easy to implement across our offices and project sites.

“Effective waste management isn’t just about sorting bins, it’s about accountability, awareness, and leading by example,” said Beatrice Fraser, SESG’s Waste Champion. “Every action contributes to SESG’s broader sustainability goals and reflects our values in practice.”

In FY25, SESG diverted 69% of total waste from landfill, a reflection of the team’s commitment to continuous improvement and environmental integrity. The release of the Waste Management Guide will help further this progress by providing clarity and consistency in how waste is managed across the organisation.

At SESG, sustainability is a shared responsibility, and this initiative reinforces how each team member plays a role in achieving measurable impact through everyday actions.
